70s Boho draws from the late-1960s and 1970s American hippie and folk-rock movements as documented in California canyon culture (Laurel Canyon's Joni Mitchell era), the British folk scene (Marianne Faithfull) and Stevie Nicks's Fleetwood Mac stage costuming. The wardrobe is layered and flowing: high-waisted flared or bellbottom jeans, suede platform boots, fringed leather vests and shawls, peasant blouses, prairie maxi dresses in floral cotton, kimono-style robes, lace details, crochet vests, oversized floppy hats, granny glasses, beaded jewellery. The colour palette runs warm and earth-toned. The aesthetic resurfaces cyclically with major brand alignments (Coachella's branded festival era, Free People's permanent capsule).
