Atompunk is the speculative-fiction aesthetic that mines the visual language of the early Cold War (~1945–1969) — the Atomic Age of Sputnik, Cadillac tail fins, Googie roadside architecture, raygun gothic comics, the Eisenhower-era moon-shot optimism — and rewires it into an alternate future. It is the world of Fallout, The Jetsons, Tomorrowland, Bomb Girls and the Disney 'Carousel of Progress'. Wardrobe-wise it lives in 1950s and early-1960s codes: Mad Men suits with skinny ties and slim lapels, full-skirted Bar dresses, capri trousers, twinsets, beehives and bouffants, cat-eye glasses, kitten heels, plus alt-future details like atom-symbol jewellery, planet-and-rocket prints, Vault-Tec bomber jackets, retro space-suit iconography. Sustained today by the Fallout fandom, Mad Men nostalgia, the broader mid-century-modern revival, retro-futurist cosplay and conventions like Atompunk Festivals.

Not Dieselpunk — Atompunk is the post-war optimistic Atomic Age successor (chrome, rockets, Tomorrowland); Dieselpunk is the inter-war grimier diesel-and-rivet parent.
