About

Bohemian (often shortened to Boho or Boho Chic) is the contemporary umbrella for the free-spirited, eclectic fashion approach descended from 1960s and 70s hippie culture. Where 70s Boho refers specifically to the source-decade aesthetic, Bohemian describes its modern continuation — flowing maxi dresses, peasant blouses, embroidery and patchwork, fur or suede vests, layered statement jewellery, kimono-style cover-ups, wide-brim hats, ankle boots and pieces drawing from Eastern European, Indian, Moroccan and Native American craft traditions. The aesthetic surged in the 2000s through Kate Moss/Sienna Miller-era Glastonbury imagery, became permanent festival-season fashion via Coachella, and is having a major luxe-revival moment via Chemena Kamali's Chloé.

Not 70s Boho — Bohemian is the contemporary continuation; 70s Boho specifically references the 1970s source decade.
