About
UK drill emerged in 2012 to 2014 around south London, particularly Brixton and Camberwell, when artists including 67, Section Boyz, and later Headie One translated Chicago drill's sonic template through grime's pirate-radio sensibility. The wardrobe took its cues from the music's anonymity and the practical demands of London weather: head-to-toe black, North Face Nuptse and Moncler puffers, Stone Island patches, Nike Tech Fleece tracksuits, balaclavas, and ski masks. Trapstar London became the canonical scene brand, with its Hyperdrive jacket and Irongate tee selling out instantly at every drop. The aesthetic has gone global through TikTok drill edits, Central Cee's worldwide breakthrough, and a fast-fashion knockoff industry of all-black puffer-and-mask outfits. Vintage North Face, Nike Tech Fleece, and any Trapstar London piece move at premium speed across Depop, Vinted, and Grailed.
Not Chicago drill style — UK drill leans on London weather-driven puffers and balaclavas, where Chicago drill style ran closer to oversized tees, fitted caps, and basketball jerseys.
