Oxidation
Chemical degradation of a material through contact with oxygen, resulting in discolouration or structural change. In reselling, most commonly refers to: metal hardware turning brassy or tarnished (bags, jewellery), rubber soles yellowing on sneakers (often called sole oxidation), or white synthetic fabrics yellowing. Light oxidation on hardware can be reversed with metal polish. Sole oxidation on sneakers is largely irreversible. Always disclose oxidation as a flaw.
