Shrinkage
Reduction in garment dimensions after washing, common in natural fibres (cotton, wool, linen). Vintage cotton garments may have shrunk from their labelled size over decades of washing. Always measure the actual garment (not rely on the tag size) for clothing listings — and note if the garment appears smaller than the labelled size. Wool items are particularly susceptible to felting and shrinkage from incorrect washing.
