Girly Kei (literally 'girly style') is an umbrella Japanese fashion register for the broad lane of overtly feminine, pink-saturated, sweetly styled wardrobes that recur across Tokyo magazine fashion from the 2000s onward. Less codified than Lolita and softer than Hime Gyaru, Girly Kei pulls from Liz Lisa-style tea dresses, ribboned blouses, satin bows, faux-pearl chokers, soft cardigans, ballet flats and quilted handbags. The colour palette runs through baby pink, ivory, soft blue and pale yellow. The look is closely associated with the magazine Larme but is broader — it's the default cute-girl mode for a sizeable cohort of Tokyo teens and university students. It overlaps with Himekaji, Larme Kei and the gentler end of Jirai Kei.
