About

Ouji (literally 'prince', also called Kodona or Boystyle) is the masculine counterpart to Lolita fashion within the broader Japanese Lolita subculture. Where Lolita uses petticoated bell-shaped knee-length skirts, Ouji uses tailored knee-length or just-above-knee shorts (often called 'pumpkin pants' for their full-cut Victorian shape), high knee socks, ruffle-collared blouses, waistcoats, riding coats or tailcoats, ascots and bow ties, top hats or newsboy caps, and Mary Janes or boots. The styling references Victorian and Rococo princely dress and is worn by people of any gender. The substyle has its own coordination rules and can be dressed in Sweet, Gothic, Classic and other Lolita motifs. Brands like Atelier Boz, Excentrique and Alice and the Pirates produce dedicated Ouji lines.

Not Tanbi Kei — Ouji is the prince-coded boy-style branch of Lolita with pumpkin pants and Lolita-coordination rules; Tanbi Kei is the broader Visual Kei aesthete look in full Western menswear without the Lolita lineage.
