About

Surfcore (also called Surfer style) is a laidback fashion aesthetic rooted in California and Hawaii beach culture. The look gained mainstream popularity in the 1960s through Beach Boys music, surf films and Elvis Presley vehicles, and has remained a stable niche ever since. Wardrobe priorities are comfort, function and salt-water-friendly fabrics: lightweight cotton tees, faded surf-brand graphic tees, board shorts, hoodies, fleeces, sandals, Vans slip-ons, hooded sweatshirts, baggy denim and shell-and-puka necklaces. The colour palette is sun-bleached. Hair is intentionally salt-touched and a little messy.

Not Skater — Surfcore is beach-and-water-derived; Skater is street-and-park-derived (though they overlap).
