Reserve Price
The minimum price a seller will accept on an auction listing, set confidentially. eBay shows buyers that a reserve price exists but doesn't reveal the amount until met. Auctions with unmet reserves typically don't sell — buyers become frustrated by 'reserve not met' notifications. Most experienced eBay sellers avoid reserve prices, preferring to set a realistic auction start price instead. Reserve prices carry a fee on eBay if the reserve isn't met.
