About

Cabincore romanticises the hibernal log-cabin weekend — the fantasy of escaping a city for a remote wood-stove cabin with a stack of books and a thermos of tea. It surfaced on Tumblr and Pinterest in the late 2010s, accelerated through the 2020-2022 lockdown years when escapist 'remote nature' content became dominant and Taylor Swift's folklore and evermore albums (with their cabin-coded press shots) lent it a soundtrack. The wardrobe is layering-heavy and warm: oversized plaid flannel shirts, chunky cable-knit cardigans, Aran jumpers, woollen socks, fur-lined boots, beanies, thermal Henleys, denim. Interior cues — Pendleton blankets, fire, mugs of cocoa, frosted windows — carry as much of the aesthetic as clothing does. It sits beside cottagecore (rural domestic) and naturecore (broader outdoors) in the escapist nature cluster.

Not Cottagecore — Cabincore is hibernal, woodsy and woollen (cabins, fire, snow); Cottagecore is pastoral, summery and floral (cottages, fields, prairie dresses).
