FAQs about selling on eBay

What does eBay charge sellers?

The two main fees are the Final Value Fee (13.4% on the first AU$4,000 in AU, ~12.4% in most US categories) applied to the total transaction (item + shipping + tax), and a small per-order fee (AUD $0.30 in AU; USD $0.30 for orders ≤$10 or $0.40 above in the US). On top, you can opt into Promoted Listings, which charges an ad rate only when a promoted item sells. Eligible private sellers in Australia (≤ AU$25K annual sales) pay 0% FVF entirely.

Are eBay's fees the same in every country?

No. eBay's Final Value Fee percentages, per-order fees and free-listing allowances are set per country — Australia, the US, the UK and the EU each have their own rate cards. The eBay fee calculator lets you switch currency to see the right number for your region.

How many free listings do I get on eBay Australia?

All eBay Australia sellers now get 250,000 free listings per month — effectively unlimited for the vast majority of sellers. Eligible private sellers (≤ AU$25K annual sales) also pay 0% FVF, which makes selling on eBay AU completely free for that tier.

How many photos can I add to an eBay listing?

Up to 24 photos per listing. eBay strongly weights listings with multiple high-quality photos — at minimum a clean cover shot, condition close-ups, the label/serial where relevant and a back/side view.

Does Shopfront support cross-listing to eBay?

Yes — Shopfront pushes listings to eBay alongside Depop, Grailed, Shopify and other channels, and pulls an existing eBay catalogue in as a starting point. Item specifics, photos and condition data all map across automatically.

What's the difference between Promoted Listings Standard and Advanced?

Standard is a pay-when-it-sells ad rate (you set the percentage; you only pay if a promoted impression converts). Advanced is CPC — you bid per click and pay regardless of conversion. The fee calculator models Standard by default since it's by far the more common choice.
