Who sells here
A live-auction marketplace built around hosted shows — sellers stream, viewers bid in real time, items sell in seconds. Strongest in trading cards, sneakers and streetwear, vintage clothing, comics and collectibles. Selling is a performance discipline as much as an inventory one — show frequency, presenter charisma and viewer retention drive sales more than static listing optimisation.

With Shopfront
Whatnot's inventory model is fundamentally different — items sell live in shows rather than sit as static listings — so Shopfront's role is the catalogue layer alongside Whatnot, not inside it. Keep your inventory source-of-truth in Shopfront, cross-list the items that don't sell live to eBay, Depop or Grailed, and use the Whatnot fee calculator to model show payouts before you go on.

Cross-listing with Whatnot

Whatnot doesn't fit traditional cross-listing — its inventory is consumed live in shows, not posted as static listings. Shopfront sits alongside Whatnot: keep your master catalogue in Shopfront, run live shows on Whatnot, and cross-list everything else (unsold inventory, non-auction-friendly items) to eBay, Depop and Grailed.

FAQs about selling on Whatnot

What does Whatnot charge sellers?

In the US, Canada and Australia: 8% commission on the item plus 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing on the total order. In the UK and EU: 6.67% + VAT commission plus 2.42% + £0.35 + VAT processing. Electronics drops to 5% and Coins & Money to 4% in US/CA/AU (Coins also reduced in UK/EU). No listing fees, no monthly subscriptions.

How does live-auction selling change the maths?

Live bidding consistently pushes final sale prices 20-40% higher than fixed-price equivalents on the same items. The headline ~10% fee load (commission + processing) is therefore eating a smaller percentage of a larger price tag than it would on eBay. Use the Whatnot fee calculator to model both your live-show payout and what you'd net listing the same item statically on another channel.

What's the Premier Shop Program?

Whatnot's invite-only tier for high-volume, high-rating sellers. Premier Shops get a 10% commission discount across all categories (so 8% becomes 7.2%). Eligibility is based on sales volume and seller score — Whatnot reaches out rather than accepting applications. Toggle it on in the Whatnot fee calculator's advanced settings if you're in the program.

Can I cross-list to Whatnot?

Not in the conventional sense — Whatnot's inventory isn't static listings, it's items prepared for live shows. Most sellers run a parallel static-listing channel (eBay, Depop, Grailed) for inventory that didn't sell in a live show, or for items that aren't suited to the auction format. Shopfront cross-lists between those static channels and keeps your catalogue in sync; Whatnot fits alongside as the live channel rather than inside the cross-listing loop.

Does Whatnot operate in Australia and the UK?

Yes — Whatnot expanded to the UK in 2023 and to Australia in 2024. UK and EU sellers pay a different fee structure (6.67% + VAT commission, 2.42% + £0.35 + VAT processing) than US/CA/AU sellers (8% + 2.9% + $0.30). The Whatnot fee calculator handles each region's math; pick your region in the calculator.

What about the 0% Commission Days and high-value $1,500+ rule?

Whatnot runs occasional 0% Commission Day promos (most recently 18 April 2026) where commission is waived for all sales during a defined window — payment processing still applies. Separately, starting 14 January 2026, the portion of an order above $1,500 attracts 0% commission in select categories (the first $1,500 is charged normally). Both are documented in the Whatnot help centre — the fee calculator doesn't model these because they're either time-bound or category-specific.
