About

Cybergoth is a subculture that originated in the late 1990s, drawing from Raver, Rivethead and Cyberpunk aesthetics. Its music roots are firmly in Industrial (specifically EBM, Futurepop, Aggrotech) and Rave. The look combines a dark, monochromatic black industrial base with a single starkly-contrasting neon or UV-reactive accent colour (lime green, hot pink, electric blue or orange). The most iconic visual element is 'cyberlox' — interlocked coils of synthetic hair, plastic tubing, tubular crinoline or rubber strips that mimic dreadlocks. Other defining elements: large goggles (typically worn on the forehead), gas masks, biohazard symbols, circuit-board patterns, PVC and vinyl, matte rubber, reflective materials, platform boots, spiked or studded harnesses.

Not Techwear — Cybergoth is rave-derived and bright with UV accents; Techwear is muted-utility tactical-dystopian.
