It re-emerged on TikTok in 2022-2024 as part of the wider coquette and dollette wave. Visual cues: porcelain-pale or doll-flushed makeup, painted-on freckles, ringlets, large round eyes, baby-doll silhouettes, Peter Pan collars, ruffled lace socks, Mary Janes, hair ribbons. Closely related to gothic and sweet lolita, but Dollcore tends toward a more diffuse 'doll fantasy' rather than the strict garment grammar of Lolita. It overlaps with babycore and coquette and shares the contested 'infantilisation' criticism that follows much of the cluster.
