Raggare is a Swedish (and Norwegian, Finnish) youth subculture that emerged in the late 1950s and continues today as one of the longest-running rockabilly revivals on Earth. Raggare are obsessed with mid-century Americana — particularly 1950s and early-60s American cars (Chevrolets, Cadillacs, Pontiacs), rockabilly and country music, and the visual codes that came with them. The wardrobe is pomaded pompadour or quiff hair, white tees with rolled sleeves, black leather perfectos, Levi's 501 turn-ups, engineer or motorcycle boots, and Confederate-flag iconography (a contested element that has historically been worn for its rebel-against-the-establishment associations rather than its US-South political content). Annual gatherings like the Power Big Meet in Vasteras, Sweden, draw tens of thousands of vintage American cars and their owners. Where US rockabilly has come and gone, Raggare has remained an unbroken northern European tradition for nearly seventy years.

Not Greaser — Raggare is the long-running Scandinavian variant centred on real American hot-rod ownership, while Greaser is the original 1950s American street style.
